Anywho, I thought you’d all give me the answers I got. The lot of you who replied to my query said that the only reason he considered sparing her was because Snape begged him to. I don’t like that answer though.

I suppose if I hear it from Queen Rowling myself I’ll be forced to accept that answer, but it just really doesn’t feel like Voldemort’s MO. He doesn’t give two shits about his followers unless they can do something for him. I guess maybe because Snape gave him the ‘valuable’ half-information about Harry, that he considered it at all, if that really is going to be the official answer. But I just can’t see Voldemort being like ‘okay, you begged for it, I can give you that.’ I feel like he’d just say he would, and then just laugh about it later. Mock him. And in the he’d he killed her anyway. And to me, that makes me feel even more like nape’s begging didn’t really do much anyway. I feel like there’s a deeper reason.

Huh.

But I did like this. Asking you guys questions for once was quite fun. I don’t see myself as some kind of Harry Potter guru. I just love analyzing books, and Potter is my favourite series, so I know things about it, or think about things that other people might not have thought of.

Hey guys. :) I have a question for all of you for once. ^^ Now, mind you, I haven’t had the chance to talk to Simon about this yet, and I can assure you that I may have missed it. So feel free to call me a dumbass if it’s completely obvious.

Does anyone know why Voldy was going to spare Lily in the first place? Because when I think of the Voldy I know, he would just kill anyone who was there, anyone who was in the way. Harry even says that when he retaliated against Lupin when Lupin got exasperated with Harry for disarming Stan instead of stunning him.

When you read the chapter in DH after Harry and Hermione make their escape from Gordic’s Hollow, and Voldemort is recounting the last time that Harry escaped from him there, after he kills James, as he’s walking up the stairs he says that there is no need for Lily to die. That she can be spared if she just gets out of the way.

But why? Why not just kill her? What’s the point of him even considering the sparing of her life? I know in the end he just does it anyway because be becomes impatient and annoyed, but what was the point of giving her an option in the first place?

I personally think that maybe there was a part of him that admired the fact that she was willing to die for her son while his own mother did absolutely nothing to stay alive for him, but then I think this is Voldemort we’re talking about. He admired himself first and foremost. Or maybe I’m right, I dunno.

Gay people are just normal people. We are not told about any of the Hogwarts professors love lives, other than Snape, and it would be completely out of character for Dumbledore to walk around telling everyone about his sexuality.

Did you want her to make him dress in glittery platform boots, a crop top, and decorate his office in rainbow flags to make it more obvious for you? Would that be enough of a stereotype to appease you people? Or what? Please tell me. I’d like to know how you think a gay character is supposed to be portrayed.

And did you miss the Grindelwald chapters in the ‘actual books’? Or was that also not obvious enough for you? Did Dumbledore need to whisper “always” wistfully in order for you to connect that he had romantic feelings for Grindelwald? Maybe you are American and need them to gaze longingly into each others eyes with awkward close ups of their fingers almost grazing each other that Hollywood thinks means ‘true love’.

It didn’t fit into his relationship to Harry to ever say “I’m gay”, and so it was not stated explicitly (you might have noticed the book was told from Harry Potter’s perspective).

The point is though, that he is a homosexual, well respected, powerful, and very loved wizard- and his sexuality doesn’t matter because no one else thinks it matters. a.k.a. no one care that he loves men, and that is wonderful.

It’s nice to know that not all Potter fans have reading problems. :) When the news came out that he was gay, almost everyone I knew who wasn’t a dumbass, who could pick up on implications because they were adept when it came to reading comprehension, agreed with me when I said that I didn’t know he was gay, but I didn’t think he was straight, either. There was something about his character. Little hints here and there. And then that was it. No one cared after the fact. All they cared about was that Dumbledore was doing his part in the war to make sure that Voldemort was finished. End of story.

Does the fact that whether or not he was gay have anything whatsoever to do with the goal in mind? No. Did it enhance his brilliance? No. Did it have advantages and disadvantages to the plot (HARRY’S story)? No. So why did it matter if he was gay or not? It’s absolutely unnecessary for the fact to be mentioned.

Also, I 100% agree with the Grindelwald comments. That was terribly obvious. Not to mention you should probably do a little bit of background reading if you’re going to make asinine comments about the Harry Potter universe. Especially when it comes to the Harry Potter universe. Go find the interview where she states that she always thought of him as gay, and not just ‘suddenly’ gay to become an “ally” as you put it.

Just because you think everyone is straight until someone says they’re not, doesn’t mean the author should be blamed for your lack of insight and understanding. And just because for whatever reason you think that a character has extra superpowers when they’re openly gay, is, by no means, anyone’s problem but your own. What is the point of him announcing it, or making it known, every time he’s in a scene? This isn’t a goddamn fanfiction.

Lastly, I would like to say that the fact that you think a gay person has to act a certain way, always announce that they’re gay wherever they go, or is somehow different from the norm to the point where it’s painfully, and obnoxiously obvious, makes me want to punch myself in the face. Because I think that she did in fact do something for gay characters in literature. Dumbledore was a well-respected man, brilliant, kind, intimidatingly powerful, hard-working, forgiving, understanding, and as normal as a wizard could be. You didn’t realize he was different from you (and really, that’s a stretch, because sexual orientation is different when it comes to anyone and everyone) until it had to be said, and in the world we’re living in now, I think his position as a gay character, is envious. He’s just himself. There aren’t any dipshits making a big deal about him being gay or whatever else. That’s not even a thought that crosses anyone’s mind.

Actually I’m not finished. For anyone who’s going ‘well you guys are stupid for not thinking that she wanted some ally cookies’, fuck you. First you get upset that she doesn’t make the character “openly gay in the actual books”, and then when she shows her support in her own way, you bitch about that too. Nothing satisfies you people. Obviously anyone who openly admits to wanting equal rights, and having absolutely no problem with the LGBT community is looking for some kind of approval in their direction, however small. Because the alternative is being praised for the opposite. And who wants to be liked for being a bigoted asshole? I’m not saying that there needs to be gold star badges handed out, but good people want it to be known that they are good people, so that other good people, or people in need, can find them.

And WHAT the fuck books have you people been reading for the past fifteen years?
